The Glass You Threw Almost Killed My Boyfriend. Please Share !

 on Tuesday, 21 November 2017

My boyfriend works for a waste disposal company and last week, was picking up a regular garbage bag that had sharp pieces of a broken mirror in it. This cut his leg open, and not just a little cut or scrape. The glass sliced through his anterior artery in his leg, as well as muscle tissue. He was rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors had to perform emergency surgery, and were considering a blood transfusion due to the amount of blood loss. He now has 20 staples on the outside of his leg, and 10 stitches inside. He will have a scar on his leg for the rest of his life, because of someone's carelessness.

garbage collection and garbage separation mechanisms our responsibility for garbage

If you need to dispose of glass, or anything else that is sharp or fragile, please put it in a cardboard box and label it. Many people overlook the fact that there will be one more person handling their garbage before it goes to the dump, and they don't wear suits of armour. These guys are up at the crack of dawn and work in pairs, shifting between driving and picking anywhere from 15 to 30 tons of garbage by hand (that's up to five elephants - for size comparison) everyday.
Can I ask everyone to please share this post to raise awareness for proper waste disposal and to ensure the safety of current and future garbage collectors. Show some respect and love for the guys that pick up our garbage, compost, recycling, heavy items, etc. They work a lot harder than you think
