Hamtramck is probably the only Muslim majority city in United States. Earlier it was the city of Polish Catholic immigrants but from 2013 it has become America's first Muslim majority city with hundreds of prayer houses, mosques and Islamic schools. The Muslim community in Hamtramck consists of immigrants from Yemen, Bosnia, Bangladesh and several Arabic countries.
Mosques in Hamtramck are practicing sharia law secretly for several years now. There has been reports of lashing and other form of sharia punishments reported time to time. According to US constitution, Sharia law cannot be practiced in the US soil. However, tracking such Sharia courts have become a difficult task. Specially in Hamtramck Michigan as its city council too consist of Muslim majority members.
According to Islam adultery is an offense that one can be subjected to "Stoning to Death" and that is exactly what Fathima Al Nusria had to face when she was reported to Sharia council in Hamtramck mosque. Nusria denied acharges and said she was "just friends" with Mohammed Kamil, the man who said to have had a sexual relationship with Nusria.
However Nusria was tried before a four member Sharia Panel at the mosque where they determined she was guilty and must be stoned to death after Friday prayers. The decision handed down secretly at the backyard of the Hamtramck mosque just a week ago. Only two days earlier the news surfaced and first shared on social media sites.
