Earlier a top Syrian rebel representative said he holds U.N. mediator Staffan De Mistura "personally responsible" for the suspected chemical weapons attack that killed more than 70 people in northern Syria one day ago. He said U.N.'s Special Envoy for Syria's must begin labeling the Syrian government as responsible for killing civilians. He said U.N.'s silence "legitimizes" the strategy. According to Putin this is the next episode of the script. When rebels blame and demand UN to pressure Assad much further while they are loosing ground rapidly. Putin says this is their trump card. Its a do or die situation for rebels, therefore they are ready to do anything to earn a breathing space.
Meanwhile US president Trump blamed former President Obama for inaction. He said in a statement, "These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration's weakness and irresolution," the statement read, in part. "President Obama said in 2012 that he would establish a 'red line' against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing. Obama declining to act when Syrian President Assad crossed the "red line" was arguably the low point of Obama's presidency when it came to his handling of foreign policy"
Putin says, the attack is evil and inhuman. Bashar had no reason to gas his own people when he is winning the battle without much effort. Rebels are the one's who are loosing ground and are desperate. They are using innocent civilians as a human shield and ready to kill them anytime to show the world that Bashar is killing innocents. This is pretty much similar to what LTTE tiger rebels in Sri Lanka when government launched its final offensive, Said Putin.
