Tibet's spiritual leader says that Buddhism is
significantly different from every other organized religions as its based on
compassion and kindness. "There's not even a single verse in any Buddhist
scripture that instigate violence and that is the biggest difference between
other religious scriptures and Buddhism"
says Dalai Lama.
He says "Buddha taught
the middle path to its disciples while appreciating kindness, patience and
forgiveness as key qualities of a Buddhist". According to Dalai Lama The 14th,
whose actual name is Tenzin Gyatso, these qualities Buddha appreciated is the reason
why there is no fundamentalists or extremists among Buddhists. He made these
statements at a speech themed "Religions and Violence" to philosophy
scholars in Milano on his most recent visit.
The Dalai Lama also said
that most religions however teaches values of love, compassion, tolerance but
people often focus on the versus that can be manipulated. He argued that if
people following other faiths only focus on the teachings that promote love
and compassion, instead of hate and vengeance the world could be united.
